Abstract

It is with immense pleasure that I present the inaugural issue of the NAMA International Journal of Education and Development (NIJED). This journal represents a significant milestone in the ongoing global discourse on education and development, particularly in relation to the Islamic world and beyond. In a rapidly evolving educational landscape, the intersection of education and development has become a critical focal point for policy makers, educators, and civil society. NIJED, published by the International Institute for Muslim Unity (IIMU) at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), aspires to fill a vital gap in this conversation by providing a platform for high-quality, peer-reviewed research that engages with interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspectives on education and development.

Bridging Theory and Practice

Our journal's primary aim is to bridge the gap between theory and practice in the field of education and development. We recognize that research should not exist in an academic vacuum but must inform and be informed by real-world practices. The articles in this inaugural issue reflect this commitment by offering both theoretical insights and practical applications across various educational contexts. The research published here addresses a range of topics, from governance in Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to teacher competency, financial sustainability, and student empowerment. Each of these topics is not just an academic pursuit but a pressing issue that shapes the realities of education systems, particularly in developing nations.
